Bonds for the Reconstruction of a Free Argentina
(BOPREAL) – Series 4
Through Communication “A” 8233 dated April 30, 2025, the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (“BCRA”) approved the issuance of Series 4 of the Bonds for the Reconstruction of a Free Argentina (BOPREAL), intended for subscription by those with outstanding foreign obligations related to commercial debt for the import of goods with customs registration up to December 12, 2023; services rendered or accrued up to that date; dividends and profits generated up to December 2024; and principal and interest payments in default on commercial and financial debt with related foreign counterparties.
These bonds will be denominated in U.S. dollars and will accrue interest at a maximum annual rate of 3%, payable in U.S. dollars on a quarterly or semi-annual basis, as determined in the auction announcement. The principal will be repaid in a single payment in October 2028. Subscriptions will be made in pesos at the reference exchange rate published by the BCRA to meet the aforementioned foreign obligations.
According to the BCRA’s press release, the total issuance amount will be up to USD 3 billion, to be awarded through successive auctions, one-third of which may be used to settle tax and customs obligations, as established by the Tax and Customs Collection Agency.
The first auction is expected to take place in mid-May of this year.
